5th Congress of the United People’s Party (Poland, 1969)

The United People’s Party was a workers’ party specifically for agricultural and rural workers, formed as a satellite to the Polish United Workers Party which had a more urban and industrial focus. It was established in 1949. Everything I read suggests a tangle of acronyms, mergers, alignments, fallings-out and shenanigans which indicate that the Polish political landscape in the mid-late 20th century was way more complicated than a late-evening stamp posting can do justice to… Apologies for brevity tonight.
