
Now here’s a treat! A triangular stamp which, suitably, belongs to three nations. Here’s a celebration of the 30th anniversary of East African Airways.
East African Airways was set up jointly by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania on 1 January 1946 to help connect regional towns and cities into the main international air hubs. Its history (on the Wikipedia link below) shows the struggles and successes of a fledgling airline, how quickly you can grow, choices of aircraft, moments of tragedy.
East African Airways was dissolved in 1977, in part because of an argument over beer. Turns out the choice of in-flight beer and gin has political ramifications, and that these can be symptompatic of larger disagreements between investors in an enterprise… read more at:
