Tema Harbour opened for business in 1962. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, close to Accra, Tema has grown from being a small fishing village to become Ghana’s primary port. It now handles 80% of the country’s shipping trade. It is also a major shipping point for goods to and from landlocked countries north of Ghana.
Irrelevant factoid of the day: Tema is on the Greenwich Meridian (0 degrees longitude).
