The Polsksi Fiat 125 was manufactured in Poland under licence from Fiat between 1967 and 1991. Many were (legally) exported in order to bring valuable foreign currency into the country. It was the cheapest car available in the UK market in 1991, but perhaps not the most comfortable ride.
In June 1973, a team of eight drivers attempted to take the world record for average speed over distances of 25,000km, 25,000miles and 50,000km. The record attempt took place on a stretch of the Wroclaw motorway. The feisty Polski achieved a pretty awesome average speed of 138km/hr. Definitely worthy of a commemorative stamp!
